Stories of our support in practice.
Leadership Development
The State of NH Department of Education recognized a need for additional support and development for the Boards and Leaders of its free public charter schools.
Through a partnership with ResultsAhead, we are providing personalized, milestones-driven 1-on-1 leader coaching to a new Principal in year 1 of her alternative high school’s founding and an Executive Director in year 2 of her school, which is in the midst of growing into a full K-12 program. The two leaders come from very different professional backgrounds and need differentiated support. Work with one leader is focused on establishing and refining systems and fostering accountability with students and staff. Meanwhile, support for the other leader is focused on the Board - defining roles and responsibilities and building partnership - and on navigating organizational growth and strategic planning.
The broader partnership also includes Board training and development, along with co-facilitating a series of leader retreats for a broader cohort of School Leaders. Points of emphasis include systems thinking, effective and tailored communication, and connecting mission to practice.
Fractional Leadership
The NYC Charter School of the Arts was in the midst of serving high school students during the COVID-19 pandemic and was confronted with a mid-year transition of their Director of Operations.
We stepped in to provide a few layers of support. First, we served as a thought-partner for the Board Chair and Head of School, working collaboratively to assess the real-time needs for school operations and develop a plan for the revised strategy and structure of the school’s Operations team. Second, we stepped in to provide Interim Leadership for the Operations team, leading weekly meetings, overseeing all projects, and supporting individual team member development. Third, we provided a third-party perspective on operations leader candidates, developed and facilitated an onboarding plan, and provided initial coaching for the new Managing Director of Operations.
The result was immediate interim support and stability for the school’s Operations team, paired with greater clarity of team skills, capacity, and needs, which helped inform the team’s restructuring and set a clear pathway for the new leader to follow.

“Adam is a very strategic thinker, a strong systems builder, and a great thought partner. Throughout all of his work and coaching, he has provided sound counsel, leveraging his deep understanding of how schools operate, as well as his strong communication and design skills. We are excited to continue our partnership.”
C. Mauer, Executive Director
“When I unexpectedly had to manage a middle school mid-year without a Director of Operations, in the midst of COVID-19, Adam stepped in quickly and ascertained what was needed to keep the school running smoothly. The Operations team worked extremely well under his clear, well-organized, and calm direction. As he managed the team, Adam also worked with the Board Chair and me on strategic planning. I had an extremely successful year running the school in remote and hybrid configurations because of Adam’s ability to quickly figure out what was needed and provide that support.”
